Question for written answer E-003771-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Karima Delli (Verts/ALE)

 Subject:  Review of the implementation of the EU Cycling Strategy adopted at the informal meeting of Transport Ministers in October 2015
 Answer in writing

The informal meeting of Transport Ministers held in October 2015 under the Luxembourg Presidency adopted a declaration on ‘Cycling as a climate-friendly transport mode’.

The purpose of this declaration was to promote cycling as a means of transport. It called on the Commission, Member States and local and regional authorities to consider a number of actions, including:
Integrating cycling into multimodal transport policy;
Encouraging the Commission to adopt a cycling strategy, integrating cycling into existing initiatives and European funding measures;
Ensuring that national infrastructure projects consider and aim to strengthen international, national, regional and local cycling networks;
Drawing on best practices and funding opportunities;
Including cycling in urban, local and regional projects.

Could the Commission give us precise information about the implementation of this declaration three years after its adoption?

Does the Commission intend to adopt a European cycling strategy?
