Question for written answer E-004688-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Roberta Metsola (PPE)

Subject:  Monitoring and control of animal diseases
 Answer in writing

The establishment of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of 9 March 2016 on transmissible animal diseases was a clear recognition of the important role animal health plays in the EU, as it highlighted that monitoring and controlling animal disease not only contributes to good animal health and welfare, and sustainable agriculture, but also to public health.

Can the Commission provide information on the checks that are being conducted on the monitoring and control of animal diseases in the different Member States and whether it intends to issue any reports on this?
