Subject:  EU relations with Iran: nuclear deal and human rights violations
 Answer in writing

Over the past two months, we have witnessed numerous arrests of activists and participants in the protests against the Iranian regime. Over the last 20 days, more than 30 executions have been carried out in Iran, and nine of the people executed were political prisoners.

Apart from human rights activists, the Iranian regime also arrests women and human rights attorneys, such as was the case with the arrests of Reza Khandan and Nasrin Sotoudeh. Political prisoners are currently on hunger strike. While the psychological and physical condition of some of them is unknown, it has been established that the health of one political activist has been ruined.

We are also concerned about further work on the nuclear missile programme by the Iranian regime, which represents a major international threat to world peace.

What guarantees does the EU have that Iran will stick to the nuclear agreement, particularly after the US withdrawal from it?

How is the dialogue with the Iranian authorities progressing with regard to stopping executions and the prevention of violence against political prisoners, human rights activists and women?
