E-005598-18
Question for written answer E-005598-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Nikolaos Chountis (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  Speeding-up the procedures for the immediate operation of the ‘Multifunctional Centre for Addictions’ in Ioannina

In mid-2010, the project ‘Multifunctional Centre for Addictions’ at the General Hospital of Ioannina ‘G. Hatzikosta’ was integrated in the NSRF 2014-2020 through the Epirus ROP, for a total amount of EUR 9.3 million.

While the building part of the project was completed in 2013 (its administrative acceptance took place on 28 January 2015), the procurement of the necessary medical and hotel equipment, which had been scheduled to be completed by 2017, when the ‘Multifunctional Centre for Addictions’ was expected to be operational, was still pending.

Given that 3.5 years have elapsed since the administrative acceptance of the building, but the procedure for the procurement of both medical and hotel equipment and staffing with the appropriate personnel has not yet been completed, can the Commission say:

What information it can provide on the absorption of the funds for this project (buildings, equipment, staff)?

If it knows what stage the procedures are at for purchasing the equipment and recruiting staff?

What it intends to do to speed up the procedures and to make the ‘Multifunctional Centre for Addictions’ at the General Hospital of Ioannina ‘G. Hatzikosta’ immediately operational?
