E-006219-18
Question for written answer E-006219-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Paul Rübig (PPE)

Subject:  The European Commission's cooperation with the European Council for Fatwa and Research
 Answer in writing

The European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), with headquarters in Ireland, is repeatedly named in religious debates as an important religious council for Muslims in the West. Media reports often mention a close relationship between the ECFR, including its education centres in Europe, and the Muslim Brotherhood (which itself is subject to monitoring by the intelligence services in some EU Member States).

1. Is the European Commission aware of any connections between the ECFR and the Muslim Brotherhood?

2. Is the Commission currently working together with the European Council for Fatwa and Research on any projects or consultations, or in any other way?

3. Is the Commission currently working together with the Europäischen Institut für Humanwissenschaften (or alternatively with the European Institute of Human Sciences or the Institut Européen des Sciences Humaines) on any projects or consultations, or in any other way?
