The Ministry of Culture in Kiev has recently updated the list of ‘personae non-gratae’ within its national borders, who are considered to be a threat to security. It is a blacklist of 147 people, which includes — inexplicably — Albano Carrisi, a symbol of Italian music who has fans all over the world, including in Ukraine. Of this crazy decision — the result of a rampant Russophobia that really is grotesque and that is staining the Italian singer-songwriter’s record without any justification — the most surprising thing is the EU's indifference to ideas which could be called liberticidal, to say the least. Yet on paper, the European Union is Ukraine’s partner and the greatest supporter of its efforts to build a stable and prosperous democracy and economy.
Can the Commission therefore say:
- 1.How it justifies this behaviour on the part of the EU, which seems to be looking away when it comes to unjustified and arbitrary measures taken by the government in Kiev against a European citizen, a man of peace and a man who brings peace, who is instead being treated like a terrorist?
