E-001838/2019(ASW)
Answer given by Vice-President Mogherini on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: E-001838/2019

The EU position concerning Western Sahara remains that Western Sahara is a non-self-governing territory, the final status of which will be determined by the outcome of the ongoing United Nations-led process pertaining to this territory.

Meanwhile, the position of the EU in the negotiation of any new agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco in this respect will have to be governed by the relevant jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which is binding on all EU institutions.

The outcome of the possible negotiation of a Europol agreement between the EU and the Kingdom of Morocco will therefore be predicated on this approach.
