Question for written answer E-001937-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Dariusz Rosati (PPE)

Subject:  European Defence Fund in the context of Central Europe, including facilities in Radom and Pionki
 Answer in writing

In April 2019, Parliament adopted the outcome of the trilogue negotiations on the European Defence Fund for the period 2021-2027. This instrument is intended to be a catalyst for a strong European defence industry, with the EUR 13 billion earmarked for this purpose supporting joint defence research and joint development of defence capabilities.

The Fund will be crucial for ensuring security in Europe and the development of the defence industry.

How will the Commission ensure the balanced allocation of the resources earmarked for the European Defence Fund for the period 2021-2027 in order also to support and develop arms industry centres in Central European countries, including the weapons factory in Radom and the production plant in Pionki, which have a long tradition and great production and research potential?
