Subject:  VP/HR — Rehabilitation of Artem Bubelo in Ukraine
 Answer in writing

On 25 February, the director of the Jewish Committee of Ukraine, Eduard Dolinsky, denounced — via his Twitter account — the rehabilitation of Artem Bubelo. As a member of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and of the Auxiliary Police (a Corps created by the Nazis), Bubelo was responsible for the murder of 400 Jews in the Volyn Region, and was sentenced to death for this and other crimes. The Ukrainian Government has included Bubelo in its ‘rehabilitated by history’ database as a victim of repression.

1. Is the VP/HR aware of the rehabilitation of Bubelo?

2. Given that in 2010, the European Parliament deplored the decision to grant Bandera the title of ‘National Hero of Ukraine’ (P7_TA(2010)0035, paragraph 20), will the VP/HR advocate a similar declaration in connection with the Artem Bubelo case?
