Javier Couso Permuy (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  VP/HR — Situation regarding negotiations in Colombia with the ELN
 Answer in writing

On 18 January 2019, the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, announced in a televised speech that in his view, negotiations with the National Liberation Army (the ELN) had come to an end. Colombia’s President ordered the stay on arrest warrants for the 10 members of the ELN making up the ELN’s delegation in Cuba to be lifted, and re-issued the Interpol red notices for their detention and extradition.

1. Is the Vice-President/High Representative aware of the consequences this decision could have for the peace process in Colombia?

2. What position does she intend to adopt?
