Question for written answer E-002121-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Maria Heubuch (Verts/ALE)

 Subject:  Milk market intervention
 Answer in writing

During the latest crisis on the dairy market, the Commission’s intervention brought great amounts (close to 400 000 tonnes) of skimmed milk powder in and eventually out of the EU. Could the Commission provide the public with information regarding the purchasing streams? I would like to ask for detailed information on the companies selling the powder for the intervention and the companies buying from the stocks afterwards.

The names of the companies and countries, in addition to the volumes and dates of purchases would be much appreciated. While I understand the fact that companies may be reluctant to see this information published, I believe it is of great public interest, since it would contribute crucially to the transparency of effects and measures regarding the dairy market crises.
