Question for written answer E-002221-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Peter Jahr (PPE)

Subject:  Harmonisation of environmental legislation on emissions from crematoriums
 Answer in writing

All crematoriums in Germany are governed by the 27th Federal Emission Protection Directive and are equipped with modern emission control systems.

Since crematoriums in other countries are not subject to such high environmental standards, German undertakers are clearly at an economic disadvantage.

1. Are there currently any EU-wide (environmental) requirements covering crematoriums?

2. Are there plans to harmonise the environmental standards for crematoriums in the EU?
