Subject:  VP/HR — EU citizens detained by the Maduro regime
 Answer in writing

The Venezuelan NGO Foro Penal has condemned the illegal detention of eight EU citizens — Antonia De La Paz Yolan Turbine De Curiel (Spain), José Garcia Mora (Spain), Gustavo Adre Rovaina (Spain), Juan Antonio Planchart Marquez (Italy), Juan Carlos Maruffo Capozzi (Spain), Maria Auxiliadorsa Delgado Tabosky (Spain), Ruperto Chiquinquira Sanchez Casares (Spain). They have been imprisoned for political reasons, having shown dissent from the Maduro regime, which, as is well known, systematically violates the most basic human and civil rights.

Even when they are clearly ill, these political prisoners are denied appropriate medical attention and treatment, and they are exposed to poor hygiene conditions.

1. What measures does the Vice-President/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (VP/HR) plan to take regarding this clear violation of EU citizens’ civil and political human rights?

2. What action is the VP/HR planning to take to keep up the pressure that the international community has exerted on the Maduro regime?
