Question for written answer E-002515-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
Cornelia Ernst (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  European migration control in Morocco

The European Union has made EUR 140 million available to Morocco to bolster that country’s efforts to prevent and control migration, and in turn prevent illegal immigration into Europe. The Spanish Government plans to authorise a further EUR 30 million for the purchase of 750 vehicles, 15 drones, sensor technology, radar equipment and other technical devices for border control.

1. How much money has Morocco received from the European Union since 2014 for the prevention or control of migration, and for what projects or programmes?

2. What equipment will be purchased with the EUR 140 million pledged recently by the European Union or the EUR 30 million pledged by the Spanish Government, and where will it be purchased?

3. What does the European Union expect in return from Morocco (for example, with regard to the readmission of rejected asylum-seekers), and what negotiations or discussions are taking place in that respect?
