E-002547-19
Question for written answer E-002547-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
Andreas Glück (Renew)

 Subject:  Research into geo-engineering/climate engineering
 Answer in writing

Research into geo-engineering/climate engineering is making progress. The opportunities and risks presented by these technologies, such as crop losses, need to be carefully assessed. The international and European legal framework also definitely needs to be reviewed.

What information does the Commission have about climate engineering/geo-engineering projects in EU Member States and their national legal frameworks?

What is the Commission’s thinking regarding the opportunities and risks involved and an EU legal framework in this field?
