It appears to the author of this question that, while the German prosecutor Franz-Hermann Brüner was Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), the proceedings of the meetings and seminars of its Anti-fraud Communicators Network (OAFCN) were available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
However, since Brüner’s departure, they have been available and published online only in English.
Given the usefulness of these proceedings for anti-fraud services, journalists and communicators, and considering that European citizens/tax payers have a right to access such proceedings, can the Commission answer the following questions:
- 1.Who decided to publish them only in English and why?
- 2.Does the Commission not consider that it should respect the principle of multilingualism as set out in the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union?
- 3.In view of the above, does the Commission does not consider that it should respect the right of European citizens and tax payers to information by publishing the OAFCN’s proceedings and seminars not only in Italian — they are available in so far as they were translated some time ago at tax payers’ expense — but also in the other languages of the EU?
