Trade in food and food products in Ireland

Question for written answer E-002807-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
Martina Anderson (GUE/NGL)

The Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine have stated that they expect the lists of EU-approved establishments that export animal and animal products into the EU to be updated to include establishments in the north of Ireland when Britain leaves the EU.

In the Commission’s view, what are the necessary conditions to ensure the inclusion of establishments that export animal and animal products into the EU from the north of Ireland?

Will farmers and traders in animals and animal products have any guarantee that they will not be removed from this list?

Can the Commission confirm that even when exporters are included on the approved list, agricultural and food trade will still be seriously disrupted by a no-deal Brexit?
