E-002849-19
Question for written answer E-002849-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
Derk Jan Eppink (ECR)

Subject:  EU transmigration centres in Mexico

The US has major problems with illegal migrants at its southern border. Mexico is attempting to halt the influx of transmigrants — on their way to the US — on its territory.

In Michelle Malkin’s book ‘Open Borders, Inc.’, there is a paragraph about migrant shelters, or ‘casas de migrantes’, in which reference is made to the fact that the EU is subsidising a centre for transmigrants.

In the light of this, can the Commission say:
1. How much has been spent on that centre in the period 2014-2019, with a breakdown for each year?
2. Whether there are other, comparable centres in Mexico that are being subsidised by the EU, with a breakdown — if there are — for each year in the 2014-2019 period?
3. Whether there have already been complaints by the US or Mexico about EU funding for those centres?
