E-002904-19
Question for written answer E-002904-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
Clare Daly (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  Development of the European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS)
 Answer in writing

Through its research and development programmes, the EU has financed a number of projects together with Israeli institutions and Israeli companies, such as Elbit Systems, with the aim of adapting Israeli methodology and surveillance technology to European needs.

Can the Commission provide a list of any meetings with Israeli officials or Israeli corporate representatives that have been scheduled in preparation for the next phase of ETIAS?

Can it confirm whether Israeli officials or Israeli corporate representatives have participated in seminars or working groups or submitted documentation to Frontex in relation to these matters?

Can it state if or when Frontex will be inviting tenders for equipment and services needed for the development of ETIAS and whether these will be open to companies based in non-EU countries?
