Third countries and corporate social responsibility

Question for written answer E-003301-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
José Manuel García-Margallo y Marfil (PPE)

European companies are aware of their corporate social responsibility to make an active and voluntary contribution towards improving the societies in which they are present. Such a contribution is essential in order for the societies to develop in a balanced way.

The social responsibility of European citrus fruit producers, which are usually grouped together in cooperatives, is very important in the areas in which they are present.

1. Does the Commission think that measures need to be taken to promote corporate social responsibility in third countries?

2. What measures will be implemented in third countries so that the social responsibilities of producers there are in line with those of EU producers? How will these measures be implemented?
