to the Commission
Rule 138
Christine Schneider, Peter Jahr, Lena Düpont, Norbert Lins, Marlene Mortler
Subject: Trade in fake pesticides in the EU / Germany

The trade in fake and illegal pesticides is a big problem in the EU. On the one hand, pesticides which have not been tested and are not authorised pose a major risk to health. On the other hand, the direct and indirect economic impact of fake and illegal pesticides in the EU is huge. According to an EUIPO report, the annual revenue loss caused by fake and illegal pesticides is EUR 300 million in Germany This represents 11.4% of the pesticide market (1) .

Is the Commission aware of this problem?

Can the Commission confirm the above figures?

What action is the Commission taking to resolve this situation?
