Parliamentary questions

18 November 2019
E-003854/2019
Question for written answer
to the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
Rule 138
Luke Ming Flanagan
Subject: Ethical, legal and societal aspect reviews of EDIDP project proposals

The Commission launched nine calls in March 2019 for proposals within the framework of the European defence industrial development programme (EDIDP) (1) . Ethical concerns were an important part of the parliamentary discussions in relation to the EDIDP and the European Defence Fund.

Will the Commission carry out ethical, legal and societal aspect (ELSA) reviews of the project proposals within the EDIDP?

If so, will it make public the list of experts who carry out these reviews, as is the case right now with the Preparatory Action on Defence Research?
