Future of airports and ports in Naples and Salerno (Italy)
12.12.2019
Question for written answer E-004398/2019
to the Commission
Rule 138
Lucia Vuolo (ID), Valentino Grant (ID)
11 ‘core’ and 22 ‘comprehensive’ airports in Italy have been included in the classification of airports in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Both the airport and port of Naples have been included in the ‘core’ network. However, even though it is of national interest, Salerno Airport has not been included in the TEN-T project. The Port of Salerno, however, is part of the ‘comprehensive’ network.
Given the above, can the Commission answer the following questions:
- 1.Has any EU funding (direct or indirect) been earmarked with the involvement of the Commission for the ‘comprehensive’ and ‘core’ nodes in the Campania Region?
- 2.We have heard about a possible upgrade of Salerno Airport, which is some 50 kilometres from Naples Airport. In the Commission’s view, could Salerno Airport be regarded as being complementary to Naples Airport and thus be included in the forthcoming TEN-T revision?
