 Subject: Monitoring the Libyan Coast Guard and ensuring that it does not violate human rights

Over the past two years, the EU has spent more than EUR 90 million on funding and training the Libyan Coast Guard (LCG) in an attempt to keep migrants out of the EU. Human rights abuses committed by the LCG have been documented in media coverage and a number of reports.

How does the Commission monitor the LCG and ensure that it does not violate human rights?
