Since 1998, the EU has been actively supporting civil society initiatives in the Middle East as an essential means of reinforcing dialogue and restoring mutual confidence through a succession of ‘people-to-people’ initiatives, most recently through the 2018-2019 EU Peacebuilding Initiative.

It remains more important than ever to foster contacts between Palestinians and Israelis. Could the Commission therefore share its assessment of these initiatives and indicate what plans it has to strengthen them in the future?
