Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Frances Fitzgerald
Subject: The legal harassment of Professor Wojciech Sadurksi in Poland

Professor Wojciech Sadurski is an eminent Polish constitutional scholar who has written important books on many subjects including freedom of expression and the rule of law. However, in an effort to harass and silence him, the Polish Government and a television station have taken legal proceedings (both civil and criminal) against Professor Sadurski in the light of his public criticisms of the government and its dismantling of constitutional democracy. In so doing they are violating not only EU law but also European and international human rights law. More details are available at a constitutional affairs blog (1) .

Has the Commission taken the above into account for the purposes of its actions under Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU)?
