P-008948-15
Question for written answer P-008948-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Louise Bours (EFDD)

Subject:  VAT on female hygiene products
 Answer in writing

As I’m sure the Commission is aware, the Canadian Government has recently stated that it intends to scrap tax on female hygiene products. As the UK is a member of the EU, these products fall under the EU-controlled rate of 5%.

1. Will the Commission be proposing any changes to the VAT rules to allow Member States to decide for themselves on VAT rates?

2. Will the Commission be putting forward any proposals to scrap VAT on female hygiene products?
