Question for written answer P-007094-16
to the Commission
Rule 130
Victor Boştinaru (S&D)

Subject:  Absorption of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds) in Romania
 Answer in writing

The European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds) represent a very important source of investment for Romania. After nearly three years from the start of the new programming period, it is important to have a clear picture of how Romania is performing in using the ESI Funds, in order to see whether there are any shortcomings and how they should be addressed.

Could the Commission answer the following questions:
1. As concerns Romania, what is the current state of play in terms of absorption of ESI Funds for the programming period 2014-2020?
2. In 2016, how much money from the ESI Funds did Romania receive in total, and what is the breakdown of payments from the previous programming period, and of pre-financing and interim payments from the current programming period?
