In its resolution of December 2016[1], Parliament asked the Commission to:
- —Work with the Member States to coordinate actions and measures to formally recognise and provide compensation to thalidomide survivors;
- —Create a framework at European level under which all European citizens affected by thalidomide would receive similar amounts of compensation, and draw up an EU programme for assistance and support (including both financial and welfare provisions) for thalidomide victims and their families.
