Subject:  VP/HR — Pakistan and the harbouring of terrorists
 Answer in writing

The international community has long been aware of Pakistan’s state-sponsored terrorism. In 2008, the well-respected Brookings Institution named Pakistan as the ‘world’s most active sponsor of terrorist groups’.

On 21 August 2017, President Trump had sharp criticism for Pakistan’s dictatorial military, implying that swaths of aid funding could be in jeopardy if Pakistani authorities failed to get control of the Islamist activists operating in their territory.

In light of the USA’s strong stance on this issue:
1. Is the EU willing to condemn Pakistan’s harbouring of terrorists?
2. What steps is the VP/HR ready to take to ensure Pakistan engages in serious efforts to control the Islamist activists operating in its territory?
3. How does the well-documented evidence of Pakistan’s harbouring of terrorists impact the GSP+ scheme?
