P-002468/2018(ASW)
Answer given by Ms Bieńkowska on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: P-002468/2018

1. The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) did not adopt a report on 22 March 2018 and the proposal was not rejected. In this context, it has to be noted that in its recent conclusions of 22 March 2018, the European Council, stated that ‘the EU needs to keep working towards a future-proof and fair single market that is fit for the digital age and an enabler for competitiveness, innovation and sustainability’.

2. The Commission is currently working on the development of a common training test for ski instructors. The Commission had commissioned a study on a possible development of common training principles for engineers. However, a lack of agreement over some elements of those principles is currently preventing this last project from advancing further.

3. The Commission is currently monitoring the development of the European Professional Card. A report on the functioning of and stakeholder experiences with the European Professional Card was published in April 2018.(1) There is no timeframe set as regards the extension of the card to additional professions.

(1)From March 2017, the Commission ran a public survey to gather views on the first year of operation of the European Professional Card and the Alert Mechanism. On 9 April 2018, it published the staff working document ‘Assessment of stakeholders’ experience with the European Professional Card and the Alert Mechanism procedures’ (available at https://ec.europa.eu/growth/content/take-part-our-survey-first-year-european-professional-card-0_en).
