 Subject:  The Belt and Road Initiative
 Answer in writing 

On the occasion of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China's ambitious plan for linking Asia and Europe and Africa through new massive infrastructure projects, and taking into account the prospects for this project and the support it receives from the EU and the World Bank, will the Commission say:

1. What is the current state of play and what will be the next steps taken by the EU in relation to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)?
2. What are the benefits for the EU and what are the challenges? Can European businesses benefit from this Initiative?
3. What role has Cyprus played and will it be able to play in future in relation to this Initiative and also in EU-Chinese relations in general?
