Question for written answer P-000125-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Carolina Punset (ALDE)

Subject:  Publication of criteria for identifying biofuels with high and low risk of indirect land-use change
 Answer in writing
Bearing in mind that the Commission undertook in June 2018, as part of the agreement reached on the Renewable Energy Directive, to bring forward a delegated act on 1 February 2019 setting criteria for the classification, in terms of high and low risk of indirect land-use change, of biofuels which are increasingly being cultivated in carbon-sink areas and that, to date, it has not done so:
1. Does it intend to fulfil its undertaking on schedule, so as to leave sufficient time for the requisite procedure in Parliament?
2. Can the Commissioner indicate how the general thrust of the criteria will ensure compliance with the principle of sustainability as laid down in the directive?
3. Does the Commission intend to open a window for consultation to obtain the views of stakeholders?
