P-000307-19
Question for written answer P-000307-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Michał Boni (PPE)

Subject:  Implementation of pilot project ‘Bring Broadband Internet Access via Satellite for Educational Multimedia Contents to Unconnected Schools’
 Answer in writing

Regarding Parliament’s approval of the 2019 EU budget, I, with the support of many MEPs from different political groups, submitted a pilot project entitled ‘Bringing Broadband Internet Access via Satellite for Educational Multimedia Contents to Unconnected Schools’. The proposal was approved, with the budget line 09 03 77 02.

Innovating in the education sector remains a key priority for the Commission, as is clearly stated in the communication entitled ‘Connectivity for a Competitive Digital Single Market — Towards a European Gigabit Society’.

Owing to the importance of this initiative, I would like to ask the Commission about its plans for pilot project implementation this year, as well as to receive confirmation of the amount (EUR 980 000) envisaged in the final budget for the pilot project.
