Australia and the United States have decided to ban the Chinese company Huawei from participating in the rollout of future 5G networks. The US has also urged its allies to do the same. France and Germany are now considering this.

1. What does the European Commission think of the United States’ recommendation?

2. Is Huawei involved in any EU programmes, particularly in the area of telecommunications?

3. What would be the response of the Commission if several Member States decided to exclude Huawei from their 5G rollout programmes?
