P-000834-19
Question for written answer P-000834-19
to the Council
Rule 130
Olaf Stuger (ENF)

Subject:  European ban on pulse fishing
 Answer in writing

The Dutch fishing industry is preparing to enter difficult waters now that the EU is practically certain to impose a ban on pulse trawling.

1. Does the Council agree with the PVV such a move will have a disastrous impact on Dutch fisheries?

2. Is it accordingly willing to authorise a substantial cut in annual Dutch contributions to the EU to offset future losses in this sector?

3. Is it prepared to consider rejecting the proposed ban at this stage in proceedings?
