Question for written answer P-000914-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Jiří Maštálka (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  Construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus
 Answer in writing

How does the Commission plan to proceed in the event that a nuclear power plant is constructed on the Belarusian border?

Lithuania is now applying reservations about the construction, even though international organisations, including the EU Member States, have taken part in all the control and consultative activities. No major objections were raised to the construction, as it complies with all the conditions set by the international community.

The conduct of the Lithuanian organisations seems to be a deliberate response to the Commission’s support for the Belarusian side.
