 Subject:  The awarding of public contracts in the Bulgarian railway sector
 Answer in writing 

The consortium ‘BulRail 2018’ has recently been awarded a public tender for the modernisation of a section of the Elin Pelin‐Kostenets–Septemvri railway line in Bulgaria.

1. To what extent is this project being supported by funds from the Connecting Europe Facility?

2. What is the share of state-owned or state-subsidised undertakings from third countries in the winning consortium?

3. How does the Commission intend to address the issue of EU funds being awarded to undertakings benefitting from government support of third countries that offer no comparable market access to European undertakings?
