P-001454-19
Question for written answer P-001454-19
to the Commission
Rule 130
Michael Cramer (Verts/ALE)

Subject:  Judgment of the European Court of Justice in Case T-630/15, handed down on 13 December 2018
 Answer in writing

With its judgment of 13 December 2018 in Case T-630/15, the European Court of Justice rescinded the Commission’s authorisation for state aid in the form of state guarantees and sovereign loans for the Fehmarn Belt fixed link project. Consequently, there is currently no authorisation for the allocation of government financial support to the project.

1. What steps has the Commission taken to ensure that the Kingdom of Denmark recovers the state aid provided thus far in the form of state guarantees or sovereign loans and makes no more financial support available for the project?

2. When will the Commission open a formal investigation into government financial support for this project?

3. Does the comment made by Competition Commissioner Vestager that ‘[…] the same outcome is expected ]…]’ (Børsen, 18 December 2018) presage the outcome of such an investigation?
