Question for written answer P-001869-19
to the Commission (Vice-President/High Representative)
Rule 130
Kathleen Van Brempt (S&D)

Subject:  VP/HR — US recognition of the Golan Heights as Israeli territory
 Answer in writing

On 14 April 2019, 37 former European leaders sent the VP/HR and the current European Ministers for Foreign Affairs a letter calling for the rejection of any American peace plan not based on the generally accepted international parameters for the peace process.

1. Does the VP/HR agree with the call from the 37 European heavyweights? If so, what practical steps will she take to act on it?

2. If, as announced, Netanyahu goes ahead with the formal annexation of (some) Israeli settlements, will the EU take measures similar to those taken after Russia’s annexation of Crimea? If not, in what respect does the annexation of Crimea differ from Israeli annexation of Palestinian territory?

3. What additional measures is the EU planning to take to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2334?
