Question for written answer P-003261-19
to the Commission
Rule 138
David Casa (PPE)

 Subject:  Sale of Maltese citizenship

On Sunday 22 September 2019, French investigative journalists from Enquête Exclusive (Exclusive Enquiry) revealed shocking information regarding agents involved in the Maltese passport-for-cash scheme. In one video, agents were caught boasting about their close relationships with senior government ministers. One agent was caught on camera bragging that even if a passport were denied, it would be possible to persuade ministers to ignore the discrepancies.

Will the Commission investigate these developments, keeping in mind the various resolutions passed by Parliament calling for such schemes to be abolished?
