Priority question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Harald Vilimsky
Subject: Turkish military offensive in northern Syria and its consequences for Europe

Following the launch of a large-scale military operation in northern Syria, which is directed principally against the Kurdish militia of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and as a result poses a considerable threat to the stability not just of that region but also of Europe, questions arise for the EU and its Member States as to the Commission’s assessment of the situation in the long term.

Does the Commission consider that Turkey still has candidate country status?

Is the Commission maintaining its position and continuing with the migration deal with Turkey?

What is the Commission’s assessment of the danger of supporters of Islamic State who are liberated by the Turkish advance coming to Europe?
