Priority question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Eleonora Evi
Subject: Investigation into alleged cruelty and illegality at the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology (LBT) in Lower Saxony

In light of the shocking findings of an investigation at the LPT contract animal testing facility in Lower Saxony (Germany) by Cruelty Free International and SOKO Tierschutz (1) , will the Commission confirm that the laboratory was operating in breach of Directive 2010/63/EU?

Does the Commission agree that these breaches were at least in part attributable to Germany’s failure to correctly transpose Directive 2010/63?

Will the Commission ensure that action is taken against this particular facility, and provide assurances to Parliament that such abuses are not taking place in any other EU Member States?
