 P-004464/2019
Answer given by Mr Sinkevičius
on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: P-004464/2019

Following the adoption by the Commission of the delegated act establishing a discard plan for Venus shells on 28 August 2019, the Committee on Fisheries of the European Parliament requested a two months extension of the scrutiny period.

The extended scrutiny period ended on 30 December 2019, while the end of validity of the discard plan in place(1) was 31 December 2019.

Since no objection was raised by the end of the scrutiny period, the Commission proceeded with the publication(2) of the act on 6 January 2020 in the first Official Journal after the end of the scrutiny period. The act entered into force on 7 January and applies as of 1 January 2020.
