Annual Campaigns and Events
Every year, the European Parliament runs a number of communication campaigns, amongst which the Human Rights Campaign and the Cultural Diversity Campaign in order to raise awareness about the values it stands for. It also opens its doors to citizens during the Open Doors Day and the European Youth Event. In this section, you will find all the communication tools produced in the framework of these campaigns/events in various languages and formats.

Annual campaigns - 197 files
Every year, the European Parliament runs a campaign on gender equality in order to raise awareness of its role in promoting this value. It is part of the yearly values campaign. The key moment of the campaign is 8 March, International Women’s Day. Every year around this date, various events are held by Parliament in Brussels and in the Member States via the Parliament’s Information Offices in order to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) chooses a specific theme each year.

The European Parliament ensures that human rights are at the top of the European agenda. It takes initiatives in a range of areas such as preventing torture, the protection of minorities, conflict prevention, the protection of human rights activists, and the rights of indigenous people. By participating in election observation missions, the European Parliament makes a further contribution to strengthening democracy in third world countries.

The European Parliament will open its doors to 7.000 young people from all over Europe and invite them to meet with European decision-makers and speakers with a wide range of professional experience.
Together, they will exchange ideas and perspectives on youth-related issues and develop innovative solutions to crucial questions for the future.
At the same time the event will provide an opportunity to experience the rich cultural diversity within the European Union through the staging of various artistic performances.

Every year, Europe Day (9 May) honours the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, made in 1950 by the then Foreign Minister of France, Robert Schuman, which led directly to the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). Each year around that date, the EU institutions open their doors to the public in Brussels and Strasbourg. Local EU offices in Europe and all over the world organise a variety of activities and events for all ages.
