Jerzy Buzek sends condolences to families of the victims of the explosions on Moscow Metro

Brussels -
Monday 29/03/2010

The President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek has sent his condolences to the families of the victims of the explosions which hit the Moscow Metro system on Monday morning.

EP President Buzek said:
"I totally condemn what has happened. On behalf of the European Parliament I would like to express our firm commitment in the fight against terrorism. Terrorism and the deliberate targeting of civilians can never be justified. You can never prove that you are right if you kill innocent, hard working people taking the metro early in the morning and going to work. We, in the European Parliament, offer full support to the Russian authorities in their investigations and call for those responsible to be brought to justice as soon as possible. It is very important to carry out a full investigation in order to learn what exactly is at the root of this dreadful attack. I express our heartfelt, deep, sincere sympathy and condolences to the families who have suffered loss and injury."

The President of the European Parliament has sent a letter of condolence to Borys Gryzlov, Chairman of the Russian State Duma.
