We owe him a lot; he was an inspiring and extremely committed European and shaped the European Parliament. He contributed to a very important extent to transform the European Parliament from a mere consultative assembly into the powerful and self-confident Parliament that it is today. Egon Klepsch was a highly respected Parliamentarian and an impressive personality and during all his life-time he worked restlessly to re-unite our continent.
