The President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, sends his condolences to the victims of the train crash in Germany Saturday night. President Buzek said:

"The train crash of yesterday night in Saxony-Anhalt is a horrible tragedy. I am deeply shocked by the number of deaths that have been reported to me. My thoughts and sympathies are with the victims, with their families and friends. On behalf of the European Parliament, I convey my sincere condolences to those who were struck by the accident. I send my encouragement and recognition to the rescuers on the ground."
