Book Launch by Guy Verhofstadt "Manifesto for a post-national and federal Europe", Thursday, 8 November at 7 pm

The European Parliament Office in Ireland, the IIEA and the European Movement Ireland invites you to a lecture and book presentation by Guy Verhofstadt, President of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament and former Prime Minister of Belgium next Thursday, 8 November at 7 pm in the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson St,  Dublin.  To reserve your place, please contact Patrick at the EP Office, Tel: 01 605.79.00

Europe is in crisis.  How did we get here?  What didn't work? In the face of such an unprecedented crisis, are the euro zone states creating an undemocratic monster? Is euroscepticism simply reactionary? Could a federation of 27 actually work?  We have a choice. Either we can start to take things seriously by moving towards a genuinely united and federal Europe - not a centralised super-state - or we can cling firmly to the nation state and irrevocably lose any prospect of playing a meaningful role in the globalised world of the 21st century. This book is a call - a wake up call directed at every citizen, it is an exercise in lucidity that encourages reflection - and it is an alarm bell.

On Thursday, 8 November at 7 pm, Guy Verhofstadt, President of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament and former Prime Minister of Belgium will present his book "For Europe! - Manifesto for a post-national and federal Europe"

Book signing and sale will follow.
