Conference on "Improving Migrant Democratic Participation in Ireland", Saturday 19 October 2013
The seminar and workshops will look at best practice from other countries on how to boost voter participation in different environments. It will also consider the results of a mapping exercise conducted by AKIDWA in relation to democratic participation in Ireland. With the European Elections now very much on the horizon, and the increased importance of these elections following the increase in Parliament's powers under Lisbon Treaty provisions, the participation of all concerned with increasing democratic participation is strongly recommended. The European Parliament is the only EU institution whose members are chosen directly by European citizens and given the challenges facing Europeans today it has never been more important for citizens to have their say.
